The response to the protest is like, [via standoff films]

The response to the protest is like, they don’t have ears to hear it, they don’t have heart to beat.

The water was shut for the whole day. No it wasn’t for maintenance work because if you see they shut the whole unit. The complete wing, was shut for the whole day. Because if you see, there are also Muslim people over there who used to pray five times a day and they couldn’t’ use the toilet, and they couldn’t use the toilet, and they couldn’t use water or anything to pray.I hear that they say it was shut for an hour or so for some six rooms but no it was shut for whole wing not only for six rooms, and it was shut for all day

They don’t care what we are doing inside. We are dying. Because of protest yesterday, one of my mate went to hospital because of that, because he got ill. He started vomiting because he was not eating. He was on hunger strike, he got ill, and started vomiting, and now we don’t know where he is. When the guys were protesting outside, they say – it was time to lock up – they said, “Go inside. Otherwise we use hardware to put you people inside and lock up.”

The moment you make complaint,, like the way we are doing protest, we are doing hunger strike. A lot of people have been moved away, you know, they just call you to tell you, you are going to be moved. They know what they are doing.

Let the world, let the world, let the MPs, let the even the Prime Minister should, he knows all this. The Home Secretary, she knows all this.

We are suffering here, We are slaves here. We are being treated like criminals here. Now are cell is locked. We are now locked up in this cell. If you are dying, you die in your room. Harmondsworth and fasttrack should be ruled out completely. We are being intimidated here. We are scared here. We have been harassed here. We are being threatened here. People help us to achieve the truth because we want freedom. That’s what we want. Thank you very much.

We solicit a reasonable answer for this shameful situation.

Harmondsworth IRC ,
Colnbrook Bypass,

Dear Sir/Madam,

We the Detainees here at Harmondsworth would clearly like to discuss the matter of the Unreasonable time of detention to enable us to comprehend the current situation because we are suffering from long process of the Home office in dealing our cases. The Home Office had not given any explanation to this unfavourable point which has played a huge negative role in both physical and Mental health state of we the Detainees.
The detention is not qualified to answer our needs and more over this detention centre is not suitable for detainees. Its very similar to a prison instead of calling it a detention centre.
The Slogan of this peaceful protest (The persecution is less than the mental abuse that influences completely the health state of each detainee here, however everyone believes we could continually overcome the situation by our peaceful protest and address the message to everybody responsible about this unfavourable position)
We solicit a reasonable answer for this shameful situation.

DETAINEES POINT OF GRIEVANCES

The following are various areas of contention that we believe the centre management and Home Office are not taking into consideration while we detainees are being held in this place.
1. We notice with keen interest that, since January, 2015 just a hand full of detainees have been released from this detention.
2. Since this same period, all Asylum cases has been refused
3. The process of certifying Asylum cases is grossly unfair and unjust. We want to know the criteria for certifying this Asylum cases.
4. Report gathered from reliable sources has it that, the Home Office staff are paid a bonus based on the number of cases treated which exposes our cases to unjust manipulations.
5. The fast track system is so unfair that our cases are not properly been looked into. The incompetence of the caseworkers keep destroying our credibility of our situations.
6. Caseworkers lie about our individual cases and find us to be suitable for deportation, which ultimately guaranties them a bonus.
7. The use of chartered flight to some countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries are so absurd and we strong request that we detainees should be given choices.
8. It is very shameful and unfair for people who have lived in this country for over 10years who have established a family life here in the United Kingdom are not allowed to take personal stuffs with them upon return back to their native countries.
9. We have informations that Home Office group of workers use proxies and gratifications to arrange High Commission Interviews for detainees which is a high criminal offence.
10. There should be a limit to how a detainee is being held. The current practice or undermined length is gross open to abuse and enactment of modern day slavery.
11. In most cases, our bank cards are being held by the Home Office. We are allowed to work for hours here at the centre and we are being paid one (1) pound per hour which is also a modern day slavery.
12. Due to the fact that our bank cards are being held by the Home Office, most essential shopping sites are blocked from the centre in order for those of who know our cards details to use our cards online.
13. The only way we detainees can entertain our selves are based on social media and entertainment sites such as Facebook, twitter, YouTube and other essential and well known media. But all this are restricted , blocked and that alone is affecting us mentally and physically as well.

14. Its very difficult to get in touch with our family members as well as our loved ones and friends.

15. The relationship between Officers and detainees are that of a slave and his master. Addressing detainees in more inhuman and undignified manner.
16. This is an immigration centre and Not a prison. We are Not CRIMINALS and we need to be treated as human beings not Animals.
17. The lock-up of twelve (12) hours per day is not dignify for immigration detainees whereby in some prisons in this country, criminals are not being locked up in such manner.
18. Most of we detainees have got serious health issues and nothing is being done concerning our release which is very contrary to the immigration, detention and Human Rights Acts.
19. It takes ages for a detainees to get a doctors appointment and when you get the appointment, you are not treated well and if you don’t take care, your appointment will be cancelled before the day.
20. There are only three types of food in this detention centre.
(I) porridge for breakfast.
(II) Fish and chips for lunch
(III) plain rice and white chicken with NO SAUCE for dinner.
This has been the only meal here in the detention centre. If you don’t want to eat then you need to provide your own meal.

21. Some of us came into this detention safe and sound but due to depression and the incompetence of the Home Office as well as the detention officers, this has put us in a devastating mood, situation and life threatening cases.
22. Most of us went to seek for asylum by our selves and we are being detained for half a year and over whiles the secretary of state representatives go home and have a nice time with their families.
23. The refusal on everyone’s documents are the same. Meaning it was copied and pasted. Just that they change names, country or origin and other personal details.
24. The health care system here is very poor as well. you go to the healthcare regardless of your sickness and you will be offered PARACETAMOL. whether you get injured or what so ever, you will be offered paracetamol. the only time you are properly checked is when you have a flight and you will be checked to see if you are fit to fly.
25. Lots of we the detainees have got valid applications pending. Applications such as Judicial Review, Discretionary leave to remain, and many other forms or leave to remain in this country that will probably take moths to process and yet still we are not released on bail or temporary admission.
26. There are more than 600 detainees here at Harmondsworth and on the C and D wing has the most population of detainees almost 350 detainees and we have just twelve (12) computers here. This computers are restricted.

(3)

27. This is now becoming alarming and we detainees are tires of being treated like animals.
28. The most important issue at hand now is that we want the Home Office and IRC Harmondsworth to look into the above points and put a stop to the inhuman treatment and psychology torture. We need our freedom.

(4)
LIFE INSIDE HARMONDSWORTH DETENTION CENTRE

Life inside the Harmondsworth Detention centre is like that of a bear. Yes BEAR!!! Just like that of a teddy bear that most kids throw anywhere in the house. You can put your bear on your bed or anywhere and indefinitely, just like we detainees are being treated here in the United Kingdom forgetting us inside the detention centres. Such as if you go for years without looking back the bear will still be there waiting for you. That is the kind of life the Home Office has put we detainees in now.

The modern day slavery I should say. Even animals have ventilations thought all their cages but why are we humans being treated like less human beings. No ventilations in the rooms and we are being paired in rooms with people from different cultures, background and more over we all inhale one breath. Why are offenders in prisons enjoying fresh air and we immigration detainees are been treated like animals. Prisoners have more liberty than we detainees do have. This is simply discrimination of race, ethnics and colours. This British in prisons know they have family and kids here to take proper care of them otherwise the government will face the wrath and problem of the public. Unlike we the immigrants in detention centres. We can be treated anyhow without anyone querying the Almighty Great Britain of her inhuman treatment, psychological and mental torture. Great Britain that proclaimed to be human right champion that could not even uphold the simple human right acts associated with asylum seekers or immigrants in the United Kingdom.

The health institutes all over the world states (most especially in the UK) that we should be careful of what we consume everyday. But the home office does not care about what the management of the detention centre feeds the detainees everyday. PORRIDGE in the Morning, FRIES in the Afternoon and RICE in the Evening. Where is the balanced diet here? This is very absurd and this matters at hand really need to be looked into.

I am the partner of someone

I am the partner of someone who is detained at Harmondsworth detention centre near heathrow airport in London. he was detained and took to a police station in Feb 2015 and was remained there for 90 hours in the police cells and then he was taken to Harmondsworth detention centre. My partner is an Asylum seeker and currently awaiting on his case to be decided. Now when I first got to the detention centre he was given a solicitor to contact however that solicitor said they are the wrong people to help him in his case. He has also been suffering from depression and has had anxiety attacks which detention centre has made his health worse. He hasn’t slept or eaten. I have visited him 3 times now and the conditions I have whitnessed is horrific. A member of staff at the detention centre had told me their self that the centre is going to ‘collapse’ and they said they are running shortage of staff. When I visited him I wasn’t allowed to sit next to him it had be either next to him or across from him and I am his girlfriend. We only get 2pm until 8:45 with detainees and it’s hard because he is based in London and I am near Liverpool, it’s not only emotionally effecting him but it’s effecting me, I haven’t eaten, slept or even attended my college. I am suffering from depression and it’s gradually deteriorating. It’s horrible knowing I can’t do anything to help him but contact the social media and get involved in protests and just to visit him to keep that smile. They get treated like animals I have witnessed it myself. They are human beings not seminars and we deserve to be treated with dignity and with respect regardless what the skin colour is,religion or culture. The immigration system is racist and vile and this needs to be ended once and for all. Thank you for listening.

if they don’t stop there are commanders outside

I am a detainee of Harmondsworth, we are all doing protest against Fast trak and against everything. There are more than 100 people in the yard and they have started hunger strike for 4 days. Immigration came about an hour ago and said if they don’t stop there are commanders outside we will make you stop this hunger strike. We don’t like the way you have started hunger strike and that media are seeing. We don’t want this no more.

We have not eaten for four days now.

I am calling from Harmondsworth. We have not eaten for four days now. And three people have collapsed from not eating or drinking. There are no human rights- no media is coming inside. We need the media to come us- we need them to come in and see what is happening inside. I am calling on behalf of people from Morocco, Benghazi, Pakistan, Egypt- lots of countries. India. We have three people from Libya here. We have been arrested here for around five months- we are not criminals. End fast-track. They haven’t given us any solicitor- anything to fight our case. Everything is being refused. Anything is being refused by the Home Office. Everyone has a dangerous life- no solicitor; how do I fight my case from within detention? I don’t know about the law; I don’t know anything. They just keep me here, and I get a refusal, and they send me back. The judge makes a judgement without a solicitor- how do I fight my case? And they keep us here for five months. And they don’t see about our cases. My first language is Arabic- so my evidence will be in Arabic. How will the judge read it? No translator- nothing; they just make a refusal. How can you refuse something if you haven’t read it?  All we need- I am talking on behalf of everyone- we need to end fast-track for everybody. We need the Home Office to read our cases properly- they don’t take time. If we give interview today, they refuse tomorrow. It doesn’t matter where you are from- they refuse you. It’s like they just make copies for everyone.

Nobody is listening to me. What can I do?

I am in Harmondsworth. They put me on a fast-track- they didn’t give me time. We’re not allowed to go outside so I could not prove myself. They didn’t give me a doctor’s appointment before the flight. Doctors have no time. After I left my house…you know some people in Pakistan are trying to find me. They want to kill me. They know what time the charter is coming back…they will wait and find me. This is very big trouble for me. My weight was 90 kg, now I weigh 65 kg- they have this on record. I was very very depressed. I’m slowly slowly dying here. It is better to not go back to my country. It is better to die here. I can’t sleep more than one hour, two hours. I don’t wanna go back. I’m here more than 5 months…if they put me here for another month I’m gunna commit suicide. Already I’m very in trouble- mentally. I’m not in a good condition. I don’t wanna stay inside here. My solicitor says “I try, I try, I try”. Nobody is listening to me. What can I do? Some people are still on hunger strike- they don’t eat. Every night they hit their doors- they make noise. The guards just listen and that’s it- they listen to immigration. They don’t listen to us. Thank you for listening to me.

I am a detainee at the Harmondsworth Detention Centre

I am a detainee at the Harmondsworth  Detention Centre. I have been here at this detention centre for more than five (5) months and am here to complain not just for my self but on behalf of all the detainees here. we are mentally tortured here at the detention. some of us came in here safe and sound but due to depression and the incompetence of the Home Office as well as the detention officers have put us in a devastating mood, situation and life threatening cases. The fast track system of the home office is very poor to the highest level. the immigration is just using this system to make money for them selves behind LAW. they rush through our cases and make useless and unnecessary mistakes that goes against us. we are not criminals nor Animals. most of us went to seek for asylum by our selves and we are being detained for half a year and over whiles the secretary of state representatives go home and have a nice time with their families. we are locked up in rooms like ANIMALS. officers in the detention being rude to us as if we are no body or animals. The refusal on everyone’s documents are the same. Meaning it was copied and pasted. Just that they change names, country or origin and other personal details.
HEALTHCARE
The health care system here is very poor as well. you go to the healthcare regardless of your sickness and you will be offered PARACETAMOL. whether you get injured or what so ever, you will be offered paracetamol. the only time you are properly checked is when you have a flight and you will be checked to see if you are fit to fly. when your sickness gets worse, that’s when you are transferred to Hillindon Hospital in North London. even on your way to the hospital, our hands are being cuffed. in my situation, I was even handcuffed to the bed at the hillindon Hospital.
BAIL AND TEMPORAL ADMISSION
most of we the detainees have got valid applications pending. Applications such as Judicial Review, Discretionary leave to remain, and many other forms or leave to remain in this country that will probably take moths to process and yet still we are not released on bail or temporary admission. We are locked up like dogs. Even animals in this country have their rights. Detention is not suppose to be like a prison. But we are treated worse like or more than prisoners. Where is in humanity in This country, where is the Human right in this country. We go for bail and Immigration judges will refuse us because our sorties did not deposit huge amount of money. Is the immigration working with money or are working by law?

POOR FACILITIES
The detention centre here at Harmondsworth has the worst facilities here in England. I have been to four (4) different detention centres here in the UK and Harmondsworth is the worse. I prefer to sleep on the streets than rather being in this useless place, this death trap they call a detention centre. The managers have kept their kids out there and they are enjoying life and we are being treated as SLAVES here. I think slavery is still in existence. Just that this is a modern style of slavery. There are more than 600 detainees here at harmondsworth and on the C and D wing has the most population of detainees almost 350 detainees and we have just twelve (12) computers here. This computers are restricted.

No social media can be assessed. No entertainment sites can be assessed. Only email address. And when you get evidences and documents from your email they refuse to print them out for you. So how does home office want us to get evidences or documents to support our claims and cases. This is very bad. This huge building and we have just 3 washing machine and one dryer working for over 350 detainees. How can this be possible. We have to be cuing in the cold just to get a meal. All the bathrooms are overflowing. Our rooms are cold at night. We sleep in this cold, get sick and when we go the the healthcare, we are being maltreated and given paracetamol. Nurses treat us here as animals. Shout at us and mishandle and maltreat us.

INCOMPETENCE OF THE HOME OFFICE
The Home office is very incompetent. They lie on our cases. If anyone is to lie, it shouldn’t be the Home office. Everything states on our monthly reports are just speculations and lies just to destroy or credibility and genuineness in this countries. They are crafty liars. We have detainees here who have studied law, management, medical and a whole lot. We have a future and we are detained here to ruin our FUTURE. This is pure evilness.

We the detainees at Harmondsworth immigration centre are demanding that

There has been a lot of injustice and inhumane treatment and abusive of human right by the government and home office to asylum seekers in this country.

it isn’t a crime to seek asylum and UK has the highest rate of human right abuse.

in that case we the detainees at Harmondsworth immigration centre are demanding that

(1) all the detainees on fast track process are removed from fast track.
(2) the facilities are outdated and deteriorated.
(3) the health care are poor and detainees can’t see a doctor even in emergency.
(4) detainees are detained unlawfully in the detention centres as if they are criminals.
(5) detainees are given poor food.
(6) physical and mental health of detainees are worst than they were before they came into detention.
(7) detainees are treated as animals by the home office.
(8) due to the vulnerability of many detainees in the centre, some of them cannot afford to hire lawyers and barrister to defend them, the only option they have is to use legal aid appointed by the home office to act on their behalf. those people from legal aid are working hand in hand with the home office.
(9) there is high rate of human trafficking around the centre. the more a detainee is moved from one centre to another the more money the security company get.
