Things are not right here.

Things are not right in here. We decided to start the hunger strike from today, others have started yesterday. I think it’s over 100 people. We are not happy with the way things are being done. How decisions are being made by the home office and by the judges who are friends with the case workers. The healthcare is awful – they don’t want to give treatment to suffer from mental health conditions such as my self. I’ve been on medication for depression since before I was detained. And they are refusing to give it to me so they can say I’m fit to be detained. It’s not right. It’s been 6 months now.

I was declared unfit to fly

I have so many diseases  – A medical NGO has declared about my heart problems. I was declared unfit to fly but still I’m detained here. I’ve been waiting 4 months for heart specialist. Bad food, no medical care, short staff. The protesters outside are really the energy for us.

My partner who is currently being detained at Harmondsworth

My partner who is currently being detained at Harmondsworth Colnbrook detention centre asked me to contact to inform you of his situation. It’s not very nice at all. First of all he been in this detention centre for nearly two weeks now and he is on medication for health problems and the security and other workers are refusing to give him the medication he needs. What is wrong is if they miss meal times they aren’t allowed to eat when he first arrived at the detention centre he didn’t eat for over 24 hors due to missing meal times with traveling from one detention centre to the other. There’s also many other times when he has missed meal times due to him been ill and weak bed because they haven’t let him have his medication and they haven’t even offered him anything to eat either. He seen people try and commit suicide (cut themselves really bad, what’s not nice to see) due to the way they have been treated in there they lock the cells doors @ 8pm and treat them like prisoners most of them including my partner hasn’t done anything wrong just the home office is refusing everyone who is on fast track not listening to the people just straight refusing then if my partner got sent back to his own country he will be killed I am really scared for him as he is on a fast track but I’m also worred and scared for how Harmondsworth colnebrook detention centre and the home office are treating him. I think its disgusting how they are being treated and something needs to be done about it at the end of the day they are human and with stud what I’ve heard what goes off, I wouldn’t treat an animal like that. Thanks for listening to me.

Hundreds of people are protesting.

Hundreds of people are protesting. They are standing and shouting that they want freedom. They have been in detention for months. They have problems in their countries and they want freedom. On the 28 feb the minister in Afghanistan refused deportations from EU countries and Australia – the UK is the only country that they are forcing them to go back.

We plan to start a protest tomorrow. Tomorrow we are having a hunger strike. We are trying to raise the following issues

  1. Stop Fast Track – seeking asylum is not a crime, it’s unfair to be in detention while seeking protection.
  2. Release asylum seekers – there is no reason to lock them up.

There are others, we’ll get back to after our discussions.

I’m in pain, and I don’t like anything about my situation. I came to this country for study. I want to say something – I don’t like this thing. My family members are all involved in politics in my country – if I go back, how will I show my face now I’ve been in jail. I came to this country on study visa. When I came I had 3 years visa. After 1.5 years my college was suspended – I had paid my college fees £7000. I had planned to apply to university. Everything was fine. I was staying with my uncles and brothers who helped me. I was involved in the local community and had good relationship with everyone in the community. HO didn’t give any notice to me – I didn’t apply for anything because I feared they would just arrest me. I applied for other colleges but I had already paid for my college fees so couldn’t pay for more.

I was taken in and have been here for 4 months. Locked in a cell from 8.30 pm to 8.30am. No windows. I have mental health problems for which I take medication every day. From my nose there is blood coming. The doctor doesn’t give proper medication. It’s not my fault that the college was suspended – I studied computer software and hardware repair. Refused temporary admission, and bail. My asylum claim was refused 1 day after the interview and then gave 2 days to appeal. The solicitor have more than one client – they can’t work on your case in that time. I had paid my solicitor £4000. Every time it was refused. For every stage gave the solicitor £700. Again and again. I run out of money. I get a legal aid solicitor – they refused to work on review. They don’t give cameras because the food is bad – yesterday they gave us expired bread. The hatton cross asylum court is not independent – it is made with home office. It is a playing a game, like the detention centre. It’s just there to show that there is human rights. It’s just business.

How do I go back to my family – I came here for international study but now I’ve been in jail – they all know, they think I’m smuggler or criminal. I’ve spoken to every group – but I’m sick. They say there is a limit of 28 but I’ve been here 4 months

All the guys of A wing are on hunger strike. These guys will not eat anything until they release us. Some people are very sick in the wing but don’t get any appointment from doctor and don’t get treated fairly or provided any kind of proper medication one guy is having migrains and is on medication and he was asking for his medication for 8 days and after 8 days he got his medication of only one day so again he have to ask them for a month to get one day medication and one guy tried to do suicide for three times once he jumped down from first floor but he saved then again he tried to cut himself but saved last time he drink soap but saved and now he is saying he will hang him self till death but officers and health care don’t care about any of us.

All of us are on fast track so that means they just take our interview one day and next day they refuse they don’t listen and keep us like this. If you see immigration law by that they can’t keep any one in detention more than 21 days but here most of the guys are more than 2 months some of them r more than 2 years and majority of guys cases are refused and they don’t know whats going on they are just waiting when they will go out from here now we are getting mentally sick, depression and lot more sicknesses. We don’t know what kind of crime we have done that home office is treating us less than animals if you see in this country animals also have rights and we are humans not animals so please kindly treat us like humans and give us human rights to live like humans. Thank you am also detained in the detention centre. If you need any kind of info in here I will provide you.

Thanks, I really appreciate what you guys are doing… I’ve been in here with no windows for years. It’s not fair. It takes ages to see doctor and dentist. People are cutting themselves. Detained 14 months. Been in the UK for 9 years .Tell everyone thank you so much, and god bless you all.
